Paying Homage
October 19th -November 4th 2007
I have been developing a body of work throughout this year looking at the contours of the female form as a classic symbol of purity and truth. I generally employ subjects in which themselves are not visually complex or do not carry an identity.
My intention is to convey a celebration of beauty and romance through form and space. The nude figure has much of the fundamental simplicity of the straight line, it has no exact historical determination, it has infinite movement and is irreducible. The female form has been embodied into one of art’s foremost aesthetic ideal’s and I found myself being heavily influenced by early Greek and Roman art which attempted to present a pure harmonic form in the nude.
Grace lives and works in Liverpool and has been involved in arts projects in and around Merseyside. She studied at Knowsley Community College where she completed her foundation studies in Art and Design. She graduated from John Moores University in Fine Art in 2005.
